waffles

Kai tried to make himself some breakfast...waffles. He came into my room and said "mom, I want waffles for breakfast.", as soon as he got the words out of his mouth I started smelling smoke and took off for the kitchen. Before I even got down the hall way, every single fire alarm in our house started going off. The waffles were pouring smoke out of the toaster. Our whole upstairs was a smokey fog, I couldn't believe how much smoke 2 burnt waffels could put out. It was sooo loud and I wasn't sure how to get the alarms to turn off. I called Brian and tried to talk over the noise, he informed me that you can't turn them off, you just have to open the windows and air it out. Our house reeked of smoke for three days, we couldn't get rid of it. Needless to say he won't be trying to cook his own waffels anymore.

Golf Angel

Last week we were at Fred Meyer filling up the beast with gas, and out of the sky comes a flying golf ball and hits right in the middle of our hood. I guess one of the guys at the golf coarse across the street really sucked and somehow managed to hit our car. I don't think he could have done it again in a million years if he tried. They all stood there and were staring at us out of the corner of there eyes..they were trying to act like they didn't know that they had hit our car. It left a small dent, but we were more upset that the guys didn't bother to try and say sorry. They just pretended they didn't know anything about it and thought we would be so stupid as to believe their act. So we called the golf coarse and told them what happened. We told them it was a group of 4 guys and one of them was wearing a purple shirt. The evidently knew exactly who we were talking about and went out to find them on the green. He called us back about 15 minutes later and said that after 5 minutes or arguing with the guy he finally admitted that he had done it. So they got his information to give to us. Brian called the next day, and the next day, and the next. Finally after calling about 10 times the guy calls us back. He said he didn't answer because he thought it was a solicitor but after receiving so many calls from the same number he figured he'd better call back and see what was going on. The guy we were calling lives in Minnesota. He's never even been to Idaho. After explaining the story the guy on the phone asked Brian again what the name was again that he gave us and the spelling of it. He then informed us that "John Kerr" is a pro football player. Aaaghh! We still can't believe that he would hit our car, pretend it didn't happen, then continued to lie about it even after he knew he was busted, and then give us a fake name and number. Well we forgive you John Kerr! I'm sure someday you can become a golf angel!

Here are the directions:
1. As you comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

actually i lied...

it was with out a doubt the worst cupcake recipe ever! We had Camille, Josh, and Lily over for a water day and to make cupcakes. I used a home made recipe for the batter. I got it online and all the reviews gave it 5 stars..even one from a bakery owner. The frosting recipe I used called for crisco instead of butter, but again..rave reviews so I thought I would give it a try. Bad idea! The cupcakes tasted like cornbread. The frosting had way to much liquid and no matter what I did you could still taste the crisco. So instead of cupcakes we had cornbread and powdered sugar soup. Sad sad day.

so on and so 4th..

We had a fun filled 4th! The kids swam while we grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, and corn on the cob. Then we made a small camp fire in the back yard so the kids could do s'mores. We all played outside for hours until it finally started to get dark around 9:30. Me, Bri, and JL played catch and kids ran around with Dougrr, swam, and tried to play catch with us. It seems like it's been so long since I've played baseball and it was awesome just to play catch. Life gets so busy sometimes we forget to do the small things that make us happy. I did pretty good other than when I got hit in the back of the neck with a ball I was somehow supposed to catch while turned the other direction. When it started to get dark, we lit up our $100 dollars worth of fire works. The kids loved the small ones, Kai even got to hold them while we were lighting them up and then throw them. Kai loved the first couple of big ones, but lost interest after a while. Katie Beth was excited but kept her eyes and ears covered for pretty much all of it. My ridiculously crazy brother jumped through the last big one that we lit off three or four times and almost caught on fire. It was such a great family day!

Rexburg Splash Park

While mi madre was visiting we took the kids to the splash park in Rexburg. It's free, but with the price of gas and carosel rides and lunch it costs us about 50 dollars. Kai has asked to go back everyday since. He was totally in his element and didn't stop for a second. Katie Beth just hung out with me and Grandma and begged to go ride the horsies again and again. I got to eat at my favorite place in Rexburg..Mill Hallow...so yummy. We only make it back to Rexburg about once a year so we made a stop at the BYU-I bookstore. I got everybody a little something since that is a really special place to us. All in all is was a super fun day and I am so glad that we finally decided to go!
